Reckonnoiter Fall 2015
paper chairs kicks off the fall with "Reckonnoiter," a series dedicated to developing new work.
Join us Sundays October 18th, October 25th, & November 8th. Using the fall as a time to incubate and explore with a variety of generative practices, paper chairs offers three unique showings of works-in-progress. By sharing works at different stages of development, we aim to take risks in new territories and invite our audiences to participate in our creative process.
All "Reckonnoiter" events are approximately 1 hour long.
$5-10 suggested donation (Concessions available!)

Inklings: a night of short pieces
Experiments in Movement and Sound: I-III

Three one-woman dance solos, set to soundscapes of silence, breath, humming, singing and music. Character studies explored by the mediums of movement and sound.
Baby Shower
Directed by: Kelli Bland
An experimental work about the thoughts and emotions surrounding the debate on the contentious decision to give birth to a child or remain childless.
Falconry
Directed by Lisa Laratta
Performed by Jorge Sermini
A young man grapples with duty, pride, passion and an American Eagle. A short adaptation of a few chapters of Saul Bellow's novel The Adventures of Augie March.

Poor Herman
Written by: Elizabeth Doss
A new play in development that asks how Herman Melville wrote two epic novels, Moby Dick and Pierre or the Ambiguities, in two short years. Though both were flops in his time, Moby Dick was later championed as a great American novel while even the most devoted scholars continue to shun Pierre. Through play, opera, dance, lecture, and museum tour, Poor Herman will investigate the fallout of Moby Dick and the ever-thin line between utter genius and epic failure.

Break The Silence
